Alberta Learning Information Services
Although based out of Alberta, this website has a lot of useful information, videos and resources that can be used in the EFW class. There are self-assessment quizzes for students to assess their skills, interests and personality type. There are also video clips on 150 different occupations, as well as easy reading job profiles.
Steps to Employment Workbooks
This website includes a series of workshop manuals for instructors to provide occupation-specific language training to newcomers.
The Learning Edge
This site has a variety of comic book style videos, including some on workplace topics. There is a lot of information on employment topics such as networking, searching for jobs, and interview questions.

National Adult Literacy Database (NALD) for Work
There are a variety of lesson plans on this site which were put together by the Centre for Canadian Language Benchmarks. Lesson topics include clear workplace communication, identifying problems, choosing a job, and many others.
TOWES – Online Practice of Essential Skills
Students can test their essential skills with the online test, or use the practice activities to get a better understanding of what the essential skills are all about. There is also information about the essential skills necessary for different occupations and workbooks to practice essential skills for different types of jobs.
Teaching and Learning Activities for Particular Essential Skills
This website is a database of lesson activities developed by educators who went into a variety of workplace settings to see which types of skills were needed by employees in those particular settings. the lesson activities are occupation specific, but can be searched by essential skill, occupation or subject area and level.
