VCH Community Care Facilities Licensing       

A Community Care Facilities Licensce is required for all programs and facilities providing care to three or more children who are not related to the operator by blood or marriage.       

The different types of licensed child care programs include:      

  • Group Child Care (under 36 months)
  • Group Child Care (30 months to school age)
  • Preschool (30 months to school age): Up to 4 hours of care per day to children who are at least 30 months old on entrance to the program and 36 months old by December 31 of the year of entrance.
  • Group Child Care (school age): Care before or after school or during periods of school closure to children who attend school, including kindergarten.
  • Multi-Age Child Care: Care to 8 children of various ages.
  • Family Child Care: Care for up to 7 children in the licensee’s personal home and where the licensee personally provides the care.
  • In-Home Multi-Age Care: Care for up to 8 children in the licensee’s personal home and where the licensee personally provides the care.
  • Occasional Child Care: No more than 40 hours in a month to children who are at least 18 months old.  

Circle of Care and Connection      

The Mount Pleasant Family Centre is a resource drop-in centre for families with young children (ages 0-5) to make new friends, learn new skills and receive support in times of need. We offer a friendly, informal ‘home away from home’ which brings out the best in children and their caregivers.

Westcoast Family Resources Society       

Westcoast Family Resources Society is a community-based Lower Mainland non-profit society offering programs to children and families experiencing difficulties, to children at risk and to individuals looking to improve their parenting skills. The Society delivers child-centered, family focused programs, respecting the dignity and integrity of all family members.

Autism BC     

To promote understanding, acceptance, and full community inclusion for people with autism in British Columbia while providing support for the realization of the rights and informed choices of individuals with autism and their families     

Infant Development Program of BC        

The Infant Development Program serves children from birth to three years old, who are at risk for, or who already have a delay in development       

The Pace Program     

PACE offers a range of services to support families with young children who struggle with significant emotional and/or behavioural challenges. These services include outreach support to childcare centres; an intensive family program; therapy for children; support for families when children transition from foster care to another home, and training in the community.

We educate early childhood educators and the broader community about the importance of early childhood education and care. The BC Aboriginal Child Care Society is a non-profit charitable society. We are a provincial organization serving Aboriginal early childhood programs throughout British Columbia.     

Advocacy Forum BC     

At the end of 2009, the BC Child Care Advocacy Forum honoured and celebrated a decade of working together to advance a progressive child care vision and agenda. 2009 was our final year of funding from the Vancouver Foundation. We would like to bring closure to our work, celebrate an important era in BC child care advocacy and put our on-going commitment to advocacy to work where it can continue to make a difference.
